Threat to Proposition 49 Funding Thwarted
At the 11th hour, the Governor vetoed legislation that would have put Proposition 49 funding back on the ballot and endangered the $550 million funding guarantee for after school programs. While safe for the coming year, Prop 49 funding will continue to be examined as part of budget reform discussions in Sacramento. |
ACR 134 Establishes Task Force on Summer
Assembly Concurrent Resolution 134, written by the Bay Area Partnership and carried by Assemblymember Mark DeSaulnier, was approved by the legislature and thereby establishes a Task Force on summer and intersession educational and enrichment needs of low-income youth. Appointments to the Task Force will be made through the fall and the initial meeting will take place in February or March. To see the text of ACR 134, click here. |
